the lens
Meghan McGuire is currently attending Sacramento State and is originally from San Diego, California. Her photography journey began long before she became a hornet. In high school, she was introduced to an opportunity to visually document football games. Apart from understanding the basics of photography, marching band, color guard, and football were Meghan's first sports to photograph starting in 2013. Throughout high school, she continued to assist in capturing the drama department, yearbook, film and studio, ASB, art department, field sports, and water polo. She had many opportunities including having her pictures displayed on the school website.
During senior year, she started out as the football photographer. It turned into a school photography position at the request from her high school principal. She was able to highlight important school functions such as pep rallies and the important college decision's week for graduating seniors in 2015. She also has work published through the and internationally through the Baja News.
Outside of high school, she continued photography as a hobby while pursuing her Administration of Justice Degree. The opportunities included photographing the premiere of directed by Charlie Minn, fundraising events to redo a local park (Rolling Hills Park), Cookies and Coco with Santa, and lastly going back to her high school every year to photograph during the holidays.
In 2017, Meghan accomplished many tasks. She began to work with a baking company to highlight their new (now sold on Amazon). Meghan started her semester at Sacramento State and connected back with Marching Band. She was able to travel, video, and photograph the Sacramento State Marching Band season. Meghan was also able to fit her photography hobby into her Criminal Justice Degree, by capturing events all around campus. In 2018, she was able to capture memories at the Luc Robitaille Celebrity Hockey Shootout, an event which helps fund education expenses for young adults in the foster care system with the help of Echoes of Hope.
